Wedding Photography FAQs

Can we meet up to chat about our event and see if we are a good fit for each other?

A.Absolutely! This is a BIG day for you, and I want to make sure we vibe before we seal the deal! Let's hop on a Zoom meet or grab coffee so we can chat and talk about what you're looking for and what I offer!

Will you help us organize a timeline for the day of our wedding?

A.Of course! I am a MAJOR planner by nature, and we'll meet 1-2 weeks before the big day to go over last minute details and come up with a loose timeline for the day. I'll email you our final timeline information so that you can pass it along to any family/wedding party peeps who need to be in the loop! I am happy to share the timeline with other wedding vendors and will coordinate with the DJ/MC for reception event photos. I'm also happy to meet in-person or virtually with your wedding planner if you have one.

What can we expect from you on our wedding day?

A.I'll be by your side, capturing all the little moments you didn't even think about. We'll have fun. laugh and keep things stress free! I'll coordinate with your planner, DJ, and whoever else to ensure your day runs smoothly. We'll take some posed portraits, but my focus will be on the love, laughter, joy, and all the other emotions of the day. And of course, we'll have some FUN! I generally bring an assistant with me to help out too.

What does "consecutive hours of wedding coverage" mean?

A.Each wedding package includes a number of consecutive hours of coverage. This means that the once the coverage of your day starts, it will continue for the contracted number of hours without breaks. This means that the coverage hours include any travel from one location to another, any downtime due to empty time in the timeline, or meals served.

For example, if your ceremony and reception locations are an hour away from each other, that hour of travel would be counted as an hour of coverage, even if no photos are taken.

Can we give you a list of images we would like to have taken at our wedding?

A.During your pre-wedding consultation, I will have a form for you to fill out listing names of important family members who you want to be photographed with. You will have space to write a few additional groupings you would like to have photographed. This will serve as your "list." As a journalistic photographer, I want to ensure the day of your event is focused more on capturing moments rather than taking lots of posed photos.

Can we hire another photographer to work alongside you at our wedding?

A.When you hire me to photograph your wedding, I should be the only photographer present. I do not shoot weddings in conjunction with other photography studios. If you would like additional coverage, I offer a second shooter add-on to your wedding package. The second shooter will be someone trained by me, or another photographer who has agreed to work for Kristin Haus Photography specifically for your event.

How many images will we receive? Can we get a copy of every image? When will we get them?

A.The number of images delivered from a wedding can vary greatly, depending on location, amount of time booked, etc. Generally, weddings generate 40-60 edited images per hour of coverage. However, I cannot guarantee any specific number of edited images for your gallery. I will deliver all quality edits in your gallery but I do not release unedited images to clients. This would be like artists showcasing unfinished work! As a rule of thumb, image delivery will take anywhere from 4-6 weeks, depending on the season.

How will our images be delivered to us?

A.Once your images have been edited, you will receive an email with a link to your gallery. This gallery will be password protected for your privacy. From your gallery, you can download your images and use them as you like for personal use. You can also order prints and other products directly from your gallery. It is highly recommended to print your images through my print shop to ensure you receive high quality, archival quality prints. Your online gallery will remain active for one year, after which, a $50 reactivation fee will be charged if you need your gallery reactivated for any reason.

How do we book our wedding date with you?

A.To reserve your date, we'll review my wedding contract together. Once the contract is signed, a $500 non-refundable retainer is required to book your wedding date. The balance of your wedding package will be due no later than 6 weeks before your wedding date. You are welcome to make additional payments leading up to the 6 week cut-off.

Do you travel for weddings? Do you photograph destination weddings?

A.My normal travel radius applies to wedding packages; and includes travel within 30 minutes of Shelbyville, Indiana. Additional travel outside this radius will be charged a travel fee, depending on the location of your event.

I would LOVE to travel and photograph your destination wedding! Please contact me if you are planning a destination wedding and would like more information!
