The early bird gets the worm.
This session is such a good example of why it's sometimes worth it to get the fam up early and do a sunrise session. The light was perfection at Falls Park in Pendleton for this crew, and we started shortly after sunrise. While I love a good evening golden hour session, some kiddos have early bedtimes or are "morning people" (something I'll never understand, ha!) and do better with morning sessions.
The tricky part about shooting in the morning is that once you're 90+ minutes after sunrise, the sun is usually too intense to get good lighting. I like to schedule my morning sessions 15ish minutes after sunrise, which is usually around 8:00-8:30. I don't generally do sunrise sessions in the dead of summer, because no one wants to get up at 6am and have their pictures taken, but sunrise sessions are perfect for Fall when the sun comes up a little later!
The Townsend crew and I had a blast shooting on the river, and the kids loved seeing ducks, a blue heron, and finding rocks to throw in the water. We walked to downtown Pendleton afterwards for a treat at Quack Daddy Donuts and stopped and grabbed coffee at Falls Perk. It was the perfect way to start a Saturday morning!
